If you thought that was a mouthful then stop reading now. If not, then be warned that you are about to subject yourself to a little excessive whining. Belinda and I seem to spend our lives striving for momentum. We really try girls but unfortunately it eludes us and life gets in the way. We know you are all chomping at the bit for the next lot of classes and for this we are grateful but it just seems like we never manage to keep up with ourselves (if this makes any sense at all). So, where have we been over the last few weeks? Well, between our small children and the two of us we have managed to sustain the income of many of the medical professionals in the area. Now, if I for one moment believed that I could manipulate a few days bed rest from any of this then I would be taking it to its limits. Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) it has been silly little delays here and there. Oh and a few very humorous moments too. There are two things about me that many people don't know:
1. I have an insane fear of going to the dentist and
2. I have an insane fear of being photographed!
Both of these issues have cropped up in the past week. I have been to the dentist twice and it was even worse than I imagined. I did manage to get the dentist and her assistant in stitches though when I asked her if there was any chance she could replace the old metal filling with a white one. Apparently, they have not used those in 17 years! On top of that (don't worry girls this is almost the end of the whining) my baby brother came home to be married and there were photographs involved. Poor photographer. She whizzed through all the usual family pics until she got to the one with the groom and his sisters. After moving us every which way she eventually rolled her eyes and gave up. Of course I was sweating profusely by now and had that frozen look of terror on my face. Sorry Bill.
In any event now that you have put up with all this moaning here is the delight ...
My brother has lived away from "home" for the past 6 years and we were so fortunate when he and his beautiful fiance decided to get married in South Africa. A simple down to earth wedding is what they wanted. A regte egte Weskus jol. Hell no! Belinda and I just don't do simple well. We happily took over and pronounced ourselves wedding coordinators. We have kept ourselves very busy with all the finer details and believe you me, no detail escaped us. Our new sister to be could not have been more casual about the whole affair. "Whatever" she said as we ruthlessly teased my poor brother and nicknamed him Groomzilla and worked him into a frenzy over crystal beads, rusted buckets, etc. Of course he is our brother and we all have the same genetic make up and thus the same ability to stress over nothing. The day was, of course, spectacular and everything we all wished for. We are so grateful to them for getting married here and while we will miss them like mad we could not be happier for them.
Thanks for listening ladies. You should really give blogging a go. It is great therapy. You can vent and no one interrupts or answers back. Hope to see you all soon.
Sam
